With scaffolding going up on the next door house, I shut the door with some trepidation. However, as ever. I quickly became immersed in the journey. The Piccadilly line was having a bad day (wrong sort of wheels apparently) and so there was a bit of a wait for a train and an even longer delay for one to Terminal 5. As I had plenty of time, I bailed out at Hatton Cross and got a bus for the rest of the way. This was interesting, if only because it included the Cargo area. The BA cargo 'shed' is truly humongous with a bus stop at either end, and gives an insight to the amount of cargo going through Heathrow. It also provokes a question of whether Heathrow is the necessary base for Cargo.
Anyway, fast forward to the plane which featured among others two girls going to a wedding who assured us they never slept on planes and were going to party all night. Once we'd eaten the lights went down and they were out for the count.
It was great arriving at 09.30 to the lovely heat of Bangkok - about 30 degrees. Having got to the hotel and settled in, I went for a short walk to get some forgotten toothpaste from the local Boots. I was on familiar ground, having been to the hotel a couple of times before and it felt nice to be back. I was struck by the mourning materials outside many buildings and also started to notice that many people were wearing black.
In the evening I had the mega-spicy Tom Yum soup at The Front Page - an event I had been looking forward to greatly!
Having fought tiredness from the early evening, I capitulated at about 11.00 and had a remarkably good ten hours sleep!
