The journey seemed to divide into three parts. The Mondulkiri Province part was through lovely mountainous / hilly countryside on a good but twisting road. There was still plenty of forest although the trees on the immediate side of the road had been felled for a power line which was a bit disfiguring. We were going quite fast and there was never the opportunity to take a photograph that I didn't think would be blurry.
Then we got into a phase of mile after mile of rubber plantations in far flatter countryside.
On the way, we passed an enormous monument the significance of which I have no idea!
Finally, we got into the ultra-flat lands approaching the Mekong, given over largely to paddy fields.
After almost six hours with three five minute stops, we got to our destination. My negotiation skills with the tuk tuk driver came to nought and I paid the full inflated dollar for the transfer to the hotel.
At the hotel, I have a nice room with a balcony - Very different to my room with the frog of last night!
Also, compared to Mondulkiri, Phnom Penh is hot and humid. But I like it! It was an amazing contrast to have shops with goods and the city has the air of being thriving and prosperous. A nice place to hang out. I had a nice meal at a nearby and highly-rated restaurant - Mok Mony. It was a very nice Tulapi that I enjoyed but considerably pricier than those I'd had at Siem Reap.
