Very nearby there is a local market which appeared incredibly clean and tidy, with a lot of fish for sale - hopefully not from the canal.
Along the way, I tried rather unsuccessfully to get a picture of one of the 4-person families on a scooter. Then I came across the aftermath of a scooter accident which rather underlined the danger that lurks literally around the corner.
I also passed a well-tended football pitch, outside which were groups of men playing chess.
Back at the hotel, I had a nice relaxed fish amok for lunch, preceded by a gin and tonic of record strength!
That evening, I walked back to the riverside and FCC for a beer. I ws really struck by the vibrancy and picturesque nature of Phnom Penh.
Most amazing of all to me are the families on scooters. They are just so vulnerable but apparently care-free.
All in the context of chaotic traffic.
The evening also included the most exotic rider
as well as coming across the row of fortune tellers by the river.
